Das Kotov Syndrom ist eigentlich ein Begriff aus dem Schach-Jargon. Benannt nach Alexander Kotov, einem Schach-Großmeister aus Russland beschreibt es ein typisches Verhalten von (Schach-)Spielern die sich in komplizierten Situationen befinden.
Diese denken dann solange sehr angestrengt über ihren nächsten Zug nach, können aber keine klare Entscheidung treffen - bis ihnen schließlich bewusst wird, dass die Zeit knapp wird. Anschließend machen sie einen ganz anderen Zug, über den sie nur wenig nachgedacht haben - und der (fast immer) schlecht ist.

Rise Against - Kotov Syndrome

Auf der aktuellen Scheibe “Appeal to Reason” findet man unter Titel 5 - “Kotov Syndrome” - ein echte Perle des Albums. Bei Rise Against darf man getrost davon ausgehen, dass sie ihre Songs nicht einfach so benennen. Der Titel wurde also gezielt ausgewählt… da lohnt es sich auch mal genauer hinzuhören!

Diese Bedeutung sollte man verstanden haben, wenn man sich mit dem Titel (”Kotov Syndrom”) auf Rise Against’s aktuellen Album “Appeal To Reason” näher auseinandersetzen möchte…. Dadurch hat man einen anderen Blickwinkel auf die Lyrics:
